New people and new spaces can bring feelings of uncertainty and anxiety, which are barriers to learning. Creating belonging and safety for participants is the foundation of our work together, and it’s the primary foundation of impactful non-formal learning experiences.
Session 1 will explore:
WHAT it means to build community and connection in a non-formal learning environment
WHY community and connection are so important for learning, especially in non-formal spaces
HOW we can build community and connection with students and teachers, without cutting into program content, no matter how much time we have with them.
Your instructor will be Jennie Goldstone, EdD, an experiential learning specialist with over 20 years of experience as a non-formal educator, curriculum writer, and program administrator, and over 10 years of experience facilitating learner-centered professional development for non-formal educators from museums, zoos, arts organizations, and other community-based institutions serving K-12 schools.
